Our family has been enjoying life on Pleasant Places Farm since 1996. Lew is a professor at the Lawrence Technological University, teaching in the Mechanical Engineering Department. I have been delighted to be at home with the kids and the horses.

In 2002 we purchased two own daughters of top reining sire Easter Gentleman, both out of daughters of Dick Badger and both proven producers of competitive reiners. When crossed with nationally known sons of Hollywood Jac 86, they produce double bred Easter King babies with some of the best reining blood in the world. In 2003 we were able to purchase two more proven producing daughters of Easter Gentleman to round out our broodmare band. We've been told that we probably have the nicest group of Easter Gentleman daughters now in existence! We hope that's the case, but we know that we are very excited about the babies they are producing for us.

Many visitors to this web site will recognize that we owe a great debt of gratitude to John Bowling and the wonderful horses he produced. And you can't look at our broodmare page without seeing a predominance of "Two T's" there--thank you very much, Tommy Tongyai! We would also like to thank Lisa Dunikowski for teaching us most of what we've learned about Foundation Quarter Horse bloodlines, and her daughter, Jessica Mellin, who located three of our four broodmares for us...despite the oft repeated phrase, "No, Jess, we are NOT in the market. . .!" Although we are primarily breeding our mares to nationally known sons of Hollywood Jac 86 (such as Marthas Mega Jac and Master Cowboy Jac) we are also breeding to the gorgeous Hancock/Grey Badger studs Don Wrede and his son, Buck N Badger (who stood at stud with Easter Gentleman). Every one of these horses can be easily traced back to John Bowling's breeding program.

I've been horse crazy since I was a little girl. Lew was a classic city slicker, whose only experience with horses was with those found under the hood of a car. To be perfectly truthful, we don't have a famous stallion, or a great show heritage, or ranching experience, or even many years of breeding performance horses. We just have some dreams that, with God's blessings, have surprised us by coming true! It is our prayer that God will place our horses in homes where they will be treated well and be a blessing to their owners.

When we moved here, I was constantly reminded of the verse that reads, "The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places..." (Psalm 16:6). Hence, the name of our farm. Thank you for visiting!
