In January 2002 we lost Wredes Classy Bay and the foal she was carrying when she had to be put down during colic surgery at Michigan State University's Veterinary Hospital. At 28%+, we think that she was quite likely the highest percentage Joe Hancock mare in the world under the age of 13. The stud colt she was carrying would have been the highest percentage Joe Hancock stud colt foaled in 2002.
In addition to her beauty, Classy had a very sweet disposition and amazing intelligence. She came to us after six years of life on the farm where she was foaled (Gary & Barbara Richardson, Lockport, IL), and though life here was a big adjustment to many new things, she adapted well and learned quickly. She died of a torsion of the cecum. Even though she had vet care as soon as she exhibited her first symptoms, it was impossible to save her. It was a privilege to own her, we miss her, and regret the loss of the top percentage Hancock foals she could have given to the world.
