Hancock Gentleman
aka "Badger"

Chestnut colt foaled April 16, 2003
AQHA, FQHR
"Badger" was born with enough muscle on him to surprise our vet into a "Wow! That's really a nice colt!" when she saw him less than 24 hours after foaling. In addition to his large, muscular build, the feature that draws the most compliments is his beautiful head with its unusual blaze. He is very distinctive looking. He was born with a shy but friendly personality.

We think this colt is a gorgeous example of the classic Hancock/Grey Badger cross and will be a quintessential foundation quarter horse: easy going, athletic, versatile and willing. He is 18.75% Joe Hancock (through Buck Hancock and Little Black Joe) and has several close crosses to Grey Badger II, giving him quite a high percentage of Grey Badger blood as well. Though both his parents have both Joe Hancock and Grey Badger II in their bloodlines, his sire is linebred Joe Hancock and his dam is doublebred Grey Badger II. Badger's sire is Don Wrede, the highest percentage (31.25%) Joe Hancock stallion living today. He is known for the docile temperaments and beautiful heads he puts on his babies, as well as their natural cow abilities. Don Wrede was in training when he had to be called home to take over stud duties for his sire, Little Brown Joe, grandson of Joe Hancock. Recently an owner of a Don Wrede roper told Don Wrede's owners that he didn't even know that horses like this existed.

Badger's dam is Two T Bobbie Socks, an own daughter of famed reining sire Easter Gentleman, himself a grandson of Grey Badger II. "Bobbie" is out of a daughter of Dick Badger. She is a money earning NRHA competitor as well as a proven broodmare of a money-earning foal. Two of her other foals have sold to buyers in Europe.
