From the breeder in the summer of 2002: Although Toby has a great cowhorse pedigree, we think he could be very well put to work as a pretty flashy show horse, too. This foal starts out with an amazing show heritage and was the Einstein of horses to halter train. He also has the sweetest disposition we've experienced in a foal. Toby's dam, Carousel Music, is a beautiful mover with an outstanding pedigree. Her dam earned 119 AQHA performance points and her sire, Mr Poco Music, was an AQHA Champion (lots of Halter and Performance points) in the 70's who made his greatest contribution as a brood mare sire. His daughters are highly respected for the foals they produce. Toby's sire, Me Bad Max, is an outstandingly versatile stallion. He was the third stallion in the history of the AQHA to be awarded the AQHA Superior All Around award, which he earned in 1995.

From the current owner, fall of 2005: Started at 3, Toby has had 60+ days of pro training under saddle in Harmony Grove, CA. His trainer has described him as having a good mind and a super quiet disposition, and says he is bred to the hilt and could make a "cadillac" Western Pleasure horse. I am pleased to hear that, but I'm not a show person, and I'd like to give him the opportunity to have an interesting life and meet his potential. Right now Toby is a blank slate for someone to write on, very self-confident, with no hangups or bad habits.

(Some background) I bought Toby when he was 7 months old. He had had some weanling training at the time, including walking up stairs! He was treated kindly at the breeder's and lived in a herd on grass pastures in Michigan. He came to Escondido, CA as a yearling. He has been handled almost every day of his life, and has been able to play with other horses almost daily since I've had him.
